We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Operative to join our Asphalt team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll be involved in the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt plant, helping to produce the materials used to build and maintain the UK's roads, infrastructure, and communities. What You'll Be Doing
- Operating both static and mobile plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Managing asphalt plant start-up and shut-down procedures.
- Monitoring plant performance and maximizing production output while maintaining quality standards.
- Planning daily production schedules based on customer requirements and operational capabilities.
- Carrying out routine inspections and operational checks across the plant.
- Operating mobile plant equipment, including Front-End Loaders and dumpers.
- Loading plant feed materials and supporting mineral movement across the site.
- Completing daily inspection records and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Reporting plant defects, faults, and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Carrying out routine maintenance activities within your level of competence.
- Supporting refueling, greasing, and cleaning activities on plant and equipment.
- Operating equipment in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
- Contributing to a safe working environment by identifying and reporting hazards and near misses.
You may also support nearby Heidelberg Materials sites when required, providing variety and opportunities to broaden your experience.
What We're Looking For
- Experience operating plant machinery within a quarry, asphalt, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to identify issues and take appropriate action.
- A flexible and reliable approach to work.
- Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- EPIC certification for mobile plant operation.
- NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations.
- Experience operating Front-End Loaders, dumpers, or other heavy plant equipment.
- Knowledge of quarrying, asphalt, or industrial production processes.
