Are you an experienced, values‑led finance leader with a passion for driving performance, building high‑performing teams and making a genuine difference? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join Midland Heart as our new Head of Finance. Reporting to the Director of Commercial Finance, you will provide operational leadership across Financial Reporting, Finance Business Partnering and Management Accounting. You'll strengthen robust financial management and reporting, ensure we meet audit and regulatory standards, and champion value for money, helping us focus our resources where they make the biggest difference for our tenants.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop high‑performing finance teams, setting clear direction and embedding a culture aligned to our values.
- Lead the delivery of monthly management accounts, KPIs and the management pack, providing clear insight and commentary for Executive, Functional Directors and Board audiences.
- Lead the annual budget process, engaging budget holders, challenging assumptions, and ensuring budgets align to delivery objectives.
- Drive a sustained focus on cost efficiency, productivity and value for money, challenging stakeholders to strengthen financial accountability.
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities, establishing key lines of enquiry and using data to influence decisions and improve performance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting deadlines and lead the preparation of financial accounts.
- Deputise for the Director of Commercial Finance when required, and act as an active member of the Commercial Finance leadership team.
- Lead on strategic projects aligned to organisational and/or Finance strategy, contributing to continuous improvement across the function.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Accountant status (ACA/ACCA/CA/ACMA) is essential.
- Proven leadership of high‑performing finance teams, with a track record of building capability and driving accountability.
- Sound track record in management accounting, statutory financial reporting and compliance.
- Strategic ownership of budgeting, forecasting and financial control frameworks.
- Advanced financial and data analysis skills, with significant experience of Excel and wider finance systems to generate insight and improve efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex financial information into clear narratives for a range of stakeholders, including Executive and Board.
Office is located minutes from Birmingham city centre with excellent public transport. The role is a hybrid working model, with expectation to work in the office approximately 4 days a week. Advert close date is 14 May. The role may close early if we receive a high volume of applications.
