Are you an experienced portfolio professional looking for an opportunity to shape how change is prioritised, governed and delivered across an organisation?
We’re strengthening how we manage organisational change at Midland Heart, moving towards a more coordinated, portfolio-led approach that gives us greater visibility of our priorities, investment, capacity and delivery.
As our Portfolio Office Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to establish and shape our Portfolio Office, developing the processes, standards and reporting that give us an organisation-wide view of change and support effective decision making.
We’re looking for someone who can make portfolio management simple and effective, introducing proportionate governance and assurance without creating unnecessary bureaucracy or slowing delivery.
What will you be doing?

- Leadership & Development: Leading and developing the Portfolio Office team, building capability and ensuring the function provides effective coordination, governance and assurance.
- Portfolio Planning & Prioritisation: Maintaining our integrated change roadmap, overseeing portfolio planning and supporting decisions around priorities, investment, resources and capacity.
- Governance & Assurance: Overseeing change intake, governance and assurance, ensuring initiatives are appropriately assessed, prioritised and monitored.
- Performance & Reporting: Analysing portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks, issues and dependencies, and providing clear reporting and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Investment & Benefits: Working closely with Finance and delivery teams to maintain oversight of portfolio budgets, forecasts and investment, while monitoring the benefits and outcomes of organisational change.
- Continuous Improvement: Establishing and embedding simple, proportionate portfolio management processes and standards that stakeholders understand and adopt, without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced portfolio professional with a strong understanding of portfolio governance, planning and performance management.
You’ll be comfortable working across multiple projects and change initiatives, engaging with senior stakeholders and using complex delivery information to provide clear insight, recommendations and constructive challenge.
Our ideal candidate?
- Portfolio Office Development: Experience establishing or improving a Portfolio Office or comparable function, including embedding new processes and ways of working.
- Governance & Assurance: Experience introducing proportionate governance and assurance processes that support effective delivery.
