About the Role
We're looking for an experienced housing professional to join us on a fixed‑term basis, up to 6 months, as Housing Legal Services Manager. You will lead a high‑impact legal service and play a key role in delivering effective, tenant‑focused outcomes. This opportunity is available while a senior member of our existing team is seconded to a key internal project, ensuring continuity, stability and ongoing service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day‑to‑day management of housing and disrepair case pipelines, ensuring timely progression of cases
- Co‑ordinate and progress activity between internal teams and external legal providers
- Maintain oversight of caseloads and workstreams; liaising with panel solicitors to ensure cases move forward without unnecessary delay and within the agreed fee arrangements
- Ensure a consistent approach to pre‑action and court processes ensuring compliance with all applicable pre‑action protocols
- Support operational teams with legal advice on tenancy enforcement
- Track cases, identify trends and risks, to deliver clear reporting on performance, risks and outcomes to senior stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience of managing or overseeing a legal services function, ideally gained within a housing association, local authority or social housing environment
- Significant experience overseeing housing litigation and disrepair casework, with a strong understanding of legal processes and risk
- A track record of overseeing high‑volume case pipelines and competing priorities effectively
- Experience leading teams and driving performance improvements
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly
- Experience managing external legal providers and working across multi‑functional teams
- A sound understanding of regulatory expectations within social housing
Location & Working Hours
Our Bath Row office is just minutes from Birmingham city centre, with excellent public transport links and all the amenities the city has to offer. You will be joining a supportive, collaborative team, working from the office an average of 3 days a week.
