You earn while you learn on our Apprenticeship scheme. The majority of your first year will be spent at MGTS where you will meet like-minded people and build your knowledge. For the remaining years, you will split your time between MGTS and working within our maintenance department to reinforce on-the-job learning.
As a fully qualified Multi-skilled Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the equipment at our Chocolate Factory remains operational through maintaining and repairing the assets. You will also be responsible for diagnosing and investigating complex faults, responding to incidents, and reporting on failing assets.

Responsibilities and Duties will Include:
- Work alongside a team of highly skilled Engineers to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance and to identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Work safely, with regard for your duty of care to yourself and to others who may be affected by your work.
- Always adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Keep others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company.
- Work with MGTS Training and Development Advisor to produce workplace assessment training plans.
- Attend lectures, practicals and visits as per training provider learning plan.
You will receive a competitive starting salary, an annual pay increase linked to performance and unit completion, and lots of other company benefits. On completion, you'll be a fully-fledged Maintenance Engineer, holding a Level 3 engineering qualification and looking to a bright future with our business. For the right people, there may be an opportunity to study for further qualifications, such as a Level 4 qualification.
Entry Requirements:
We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science and two other subjects.
Training to be Provided:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
Things to Consider:
Please note your training will take place at Midland Group Training Services, Gulson Road, Coventry CV1 2JG approximately 30 miles away from our factory in Banbury. After completing your first-year placement at MGTS, you will be based at Barry Callebaut, Wildmere Road, Banbury, OX16 3UU. The apprentice will be responsible for their own transport. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, an individual assessment will be carried out by Barry Callebaut to determine whether a permanent full-time position will be offered.
