REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a fast growing metals company. We currently have an opportunity for a Metallurgist experienced in Aerospace and NADCAP to join our Technical department. The role will involve being instrumental in the continued development and management of metallurgical and quality issues relating to product and plant.
Responsibilities:
- Technical/Quality review of all orders, projects and specifications.
- Maintenance of the specification system.
- Generation of project specific documents such as Manufacturing Procedure, Specifications and test location drawings.
- Provide necessary technical training to fellow colleagues as required.
- Monitoring process sensitive operations (e.g. forging and heat treatment) where necessary.
- Representing in pre-production meetings with customers and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- A qualification in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or similar related field.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Aerospace and NADCAP is essential.
- Ability to communicate at all levels effectively, both verbally and written.
- Good decision-making skills.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Keen eye for detail, quality focused.
- Planning and project management skills.
- Highly numerate with good statistical and analytical skills.
- Practical knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Knowledge of computer aided design packages, specifically SolidWorks, preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work effectively within a team but also be self-motivated and lead if required.
