Midforest Vets has been proudly supporting the local community for over 40 years, building strong relationships with both clients and their pets. We’re now looking for a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team and play a key role in continuing that tradition of care.

A Varied Caseload with Clinical Autonomy

Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits and the occasional tortoise or hamster, offering a varied and engaging caseload. The role has a slight bias towards consultations, with a strong focus on working up medical cases and building continuity with your clients. Surgical work is largely routine, with a high number of dental procedures, providing a great mix of clinical work. There is a significant element of sole charge, so confidence is key, but support is always close at hand with another vet just a phone call away when needed.

Charming Practice, Modern Equipment

Our Lyndhurst practice is set within a beautiful 16th‑century thatched cottage just outside the village, creating a unique and welcoming environment. You may also occasionally work from our Totton branch, just 15 minutes away. Across both sites, you’ll have access to digital radiography, dental X‑ray, ultrasound and in‑house blood analysis, alongside all the essential equipment needed to deliver high‑quality care.

A Rota That Offers True Balance

This is a full‑time role working four 10 hour days from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays as a non working day. There is a 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota (8:30am‑12:30pm), worked as sole charge. There are no out‑of‑hours or on‑call commitments, allowing you to enjoy a genuine work‑life balance.

A Supportive Team with Room to Grow

You’ll be joining a close and friendly team of six vets, seven RVNs and a dedicated client care team led by our Practice Manager. With certificate holders in ultrasound and dentistry already in the team, we actively support further development and are happy to encourage certificate study.

Life in Lyndhurst and the New Forest

Lyndhurst sits in the heart of the New Forest, offering an exceptional lifestyle surrounded by ancient woodland, open heathland and free‑roaming ponies. It’s perfect for those who enjoy outdoor living, with walking, cycling and nature on your doorstep, while still being within easy reach of Southampton and the south coast. With its charming village feel and strong sense of community, it’s a wonderful place to both live and work.

How We’ll Support You

At IVC Evidensia, we’re committed to supporting your ongoing development and wellbeing. When you join us, you’ll benefit from:

  • Clear career pathways with progression opportunities across primary care, referral, leadership, and specialist roles
  • Funded learning and development including CPD allowance and access to IVC academy training centres & role‑relevant courses
  • £1,250 annual Care Fund for every vet
  • Access to mentors, regional clinical coaches, and peer networks
  • Support to develop clinical interests and expand your capabilities
  • A collaborative, values‑led culture focused on care, community, and continuous improvement

What We Offer Our Team

  • 6.8 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance
