Middleton Ross Solicitors is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Legal Secretary to join our busy and friendly high street practice. With offices in Dingwall and Alness, Middleton Ross has been serving clients across the Highlands for over 125 years. We pride ourselves on delivering a professional, personal service and are looking for an organised and proactive individual to support our team of solicitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio typing and preparation of correspondence
- Opening new client files and accurately inputting client information
- Preparing legal documents and forms for a range of transactions
- Amending legal documents as instructed by solicitors
- Submitting property and legal searches
- Maintaining accurate paper and electronic filing systems
- General administrative support to the legal team
- Ensuring files are managed efficiently and in accordance with office procedures
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary (preferred)
- Excellent audio typing skills, with a minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute
- Strong English language and grammar skills
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal documentation
- Experience completing legal forms and administrative procedures
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach to work
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The Role
This position is primarily based in our Dingwall office, although cover at our Alness office may be required. Working hours are: Monday to Thursday: 9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday: 9.00am - 4.30pm. Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience.
