We are seeking an exceptional candidate to appoint as our School Business Manager. You will be responsible for organising and supervising administrative systems within the school, and contribute to the planning, development and monitoring of support services and management of support staff, including coordination and delegation of relevant activities. The role is term time only, plus 3 weeks holiday cover = 42 weeks.
The successful candidates will:
- Have strong, demonstrable experience in finance and budget management, ideally within a school setting.
- Manage, implement and develop all financial controls in accordance with NCC procedures.
- Take a lead role in planning, development, organisation and monitoring of support systems/procedures/policies.
- Line manage the Administrative Support Staff and Midday Supervisors.
- Manage the record keeping of staff absence, ensuring returns are submitted and return to works are completed.
- Undertake recruitment/induction following Safer Recruitment guidance.
- Have the ability to work using own initiative and maintain confidentiality.
- Work effectively as part of a team and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have a positive attitude and good sense of humour.

Middleton is a vibrant, culturally diverse and very friendly school. There are currently 630 children on roll, with a further 70 in our part-time Nursery. At our most recent inspection in February 2023, Ofsted judged us to be ‘Good’. The report commented that “pupils are polite and considerate of one another. Pupils value their learning and know it is important. They are respectful to adults and adults are respectful to them.” We have accreditation as a UNICEF ‘Rights Respecting Schools’, recognising the importance that we place on creating an inclusive and caring school community; we are currently the only school in Nottingham to hold the Gold Award. We also hold the International Schools Award. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds providing children with excellent opportunities for outdoor learning and creative play – with the beautiful surroundings of Wollaton Park on our doorstep too.
