Responsibilities:
- Attain a registered midwifery qualification.
- Communicate effectively with women and their families throughout the preconception, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages under the supervision of the registered midwife.
- Diagnose pregnancy, assess and monitor women holistically throughout all stages using a range of assessment methods and reach valid, reliable and comprehensive conclusions.
- Work towards the midwifery standards of proficiency as contained in the Electronic Midwifery Ongoing Record of Achievement.
- Gain experience under supervision of a registered midwife in line with the European Union Midwives Directive (80/155/EEC Article 4) and the NMC (2019) standards of proficiency for student midwives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Adult Nursing covering 120 Level 4 credits and 60 Level 5 credits.
- NMC registration.
- IELTS level 7 or equivalent, or proof of GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Post‑registration experience in a nursing setting.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of professional midwifery issues.
- Ability to prioritise care appropriately.
- Understanding of inter‑agency working including child protection and domestic violence.
- Understanding of the principles of EDI within maternity.

- Evidence of relevant CPD courses.
