Middlesex University London is seeking a visionary Head of School for the School of Computer Science and Engineering to lead and deliver an outstanding education and student experience as well as support research and knowledge exchange, innovation. The new Head of School will help shape and support the strategic direction of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
Applicants should hold a PhD, possess an academic leadership background in education and student experience and would welcome applications from those who are experienced in developing industry partnerships and knowledge exchange activities. The new School of Computer Science and Engineering is part of a large and vibrant faculty encompassing four new schools: Computer Science and Engineering, Sport, Environment and Health Sciences; Psychology and Neuroscience; and School of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The new Head of School will form part of a Senior Leadership team driven to implement and realise the emerging vision of the Department and Faculty where student educational achievement and work readiness is integral to that. The postholder will work with other Heads of School in the Faculty, two Deputy Deans, a Faculty Manager and the Dean to provide leadership and management in shaping the future of the Faculty.
This is an exciting time to be joining Middlesex with strong leadership, clarity of focus and a determination to deliver positive change across the University. The Faculty of Science and Technology is well placed with a refreshed portfolio of educational programmes, significant industry connections, strong research base and a dedicated team of academic, technical, and professional services staff.
The appointment will be made on a permanent senior manager contract and depending on their experience could be made at Professorial level. Ultimately, we are looking for a leader who wants to contribute actively to the success of the faculty and has a vision for Computer Science and Engineering at Middlesex University.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate strong evidence of vision, innovation, leadership and managing academic staff in addition to a commitment to fostering and developing a collegial and collaborative academic environment within a school that encourages our students and academic staff to flourish.
