About Middlesex Students’ Union
Middlesex Students' Union (MDXSU) is an independent, student-led charity dedicated to representing, supporting and empowering the students of Middlesex University. Led by students, for students, we champion student voice, influence positive change across the University and create opportunities that help students thrive both during their studies and beyond. Through our advice services, campaigns, student groups, leadership opportunities and community partnerships, we promote equity, belonging and social justice while ensuring every student has the opportunity to shape their university experience and future. At MDXSU, our people are passionate about making a meaningful difference, working collaboratively to create an inclusive, innovative and values-driven organisation where students are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
The Advice Senior Coordinator provides independent, confidential and impartial advice to Middlesex University students, helping them understand their options and navigate University processes. Working closely with the Student Advice Manager, the postholder will manage student casework across areas including academic appeals, extenuating circumstances, academic misconduct, complaints, student finance and other issues affecting students' university experience.
Alongside individual casework, the role will use case trends and student feedback to identify recurring barriers and contribute to preventative advice, student communications, training and service improvements. The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues across MDXSU and Middlesex University while maintaining the independence of the Students' Union Advice Service.
Through the Grad Development programme, the postholder will progressively develop greater responsibility for coordinating areas of service delivery, projects and improvement work, with the ambition of developing into a management or area lead post at the end of the contract.
About the Grad Development Programme
The MDXSU Grad Development Development Programme is a 2-year scheme that accelerates your professional development. Starting at Senior Coordinator level, the role will give you the opportunity to progress at a pace that suits you with the aim of kick‑starting your management or area lead journey by the end of the contract. We’ll offer you a structured program to progress rapidly, underpinning all the leadership skills you have with the tools and professional working practice to get your career off to a flying start. You’ll be coached and supported through development opportunities, gaining a breadth of experience and building networks and connections to take your career to the next level.

This role is primarily aimed at recent* MDX graduates as the roles relate directly to the lived experience of studying at Middlesex University.
However, we will also consider applications from student officers who completed their term of office in summer 2026 and who can demonstrate relevant SU contextual knowledge, skills and experience gained during their time in office.
