Student Engagement & Communications Officer

As our Student Engagement and Communications Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering engaging campaigns and communications that enhance the student experience from enrolment through to graduation.

Working within the Directorate of Student Life, you'll help foster a sense of belonging, improve student engagement, and support the University's strategic objectives around student satisfaction, achievement, and retention.

In this exciting and varied role, you will

  • Lead and deliver a year-round calendar of student engagement campaigns;
  • Create innovative communications that are accessible, inclusive, and student-centred;
  • Build campaigns that strengthen connections between students, staff, and alumni;
  • Develop engaging content and support the continued enhancement of My MDX;
  • Work collaboratively with Faculties and Professional Services to ensure consistent, high-quality student communications;
  • Manage engagement materials, budgets, suppliers, and campaign resources;
  • Supervise and support Campus Life Ambassadors in delivering events and campaigns;
  • Contribute to major University events, including Welcome, Induction, and Graduation; and
  • Keep up to date with developments across the higher education sector, bringing fresh ideas and best practice into your work

We're looking for someone who has

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience;
  • Proven experience delivering successful engagement campaigns and events;
  • An excellent understanding of student engagement, ideally within higher education;
  • Outstanding written communication skills and the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences;
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills;
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • Experience managing budgets and external suppliers; and
  • The confidence to lead and support a small team with minimal supervision.

You'll stand out if you also have

  • Advanced design skills using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop) or similar software; and
  • Previous experience working within a university or higher education environment.
