Job Description:

Title: Reentry Navigator

Unit: MCCC Part-Time Professional Staff

Department: Academic Affairs, Educational Justice and Reentry

Reports to: Director of Educational Justice and Reentry

General Summary: The Re-Entry Navigator supports Middlesex Community College's Justice Impacted Education and Re-Entry Services programming at the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction and on MCC's campuses. Reporting to the Director of Justice Impacted Education & Re-Entry Services, the Navigator serves as a primary point of contact for students and focuses on student case management, academic support, reentry navigation, and tracking student progress and outcomes.

The Navigator works closely with the Director, MCC departments, faculty, correctional staff, and community partners to help students remain engaged in their education, successfully transition between incarceration and the community, and make progress toward their educational and career goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Support & Case Management

• Serve as a consistent point of contact for justice-impacted students.
• Conduct regular check-ins with students to identify academic, personal, career, and reentry needs.
• Provide individualized case management and connect students with appropriate MCC and community resources.
• Assist students with navigating admissions, registration, financial aid, advising, tutoring, career services, and other college resources.
• Follow up with students to monitor progress, address barriers, and support continued enrollment.
• Maintain accurate and timely case notes, student records, and referrals.

Student Outcomes & Data Tracking

• Track student enrollment, participation, persistence, completion, release, re-enrollment, transfer, employment, and other key outcomes.
• Maintain accurate student tracking systems and databases.
• Collect, enter, and organize student and program data.
• Monitor student progress and identify students who may need additional support.
• Provide regular data updates and outcome summaries to the Director.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow MCC policies regarding student information.

Program Support

• Support student advising and programming at the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction and on MCC campuses.
• Coordinate student appointments, follow-up, and referrals as needed.
• Communicate student needs, progress, and emerging concerns to the Director.
• Assist with limited administrative tasks directly related to student support, case management, and outcome tracking.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Relevant professional experience in case management, academic advising, student services, reentry services, workforce development, human services, or a related field may be considered in combination with an Associate degree.
• Experience working with student records, databases, or other data-tracking systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish trusting relationships with students and work collaboratively with college and correctional staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance to work inside the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with incarcerated or formerly incarcerated students or other justice-impacted populations.
• Experience in case management, academic advising, or reentry services.
• Experience tracking and reporting student outcomes.
• Experience working in higher education, community college, workforce development, nonprofit, or human services settings.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills.
• Lived experience with the criminal justice system is valued and welcomed.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: Part-Time MCCC Professional Staff earn $36.55 in accordance with the MCCC PT Salary Schedule

Location: Bedford Campus with occasional travel to the Lowell Campus and Middlesex Jail and House of Correction. This position is an in-person position and requires regular, on-site presence at the College. This position is not eligible for a regular remote or hybrid work arrangement.

Hours: 18.5 hours per week, schedule to be determined upon hire
