Job Summary

We are here to support , promote and develop voluntary and community action in Middlesbrough.

Open Door North East is recruiting a Support Worker to join a new pilot project, delivered in collaboration with MIND, to support refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) who are experiencing significant mental health challenges. These challenges are shaped by trauma, forced migration, racism, and systemic barriers to care.

You will draw on your own lived experience or that of a close family member to build safe, trusting, and culturally responsive relationships, addressing migration, mental health challenges, and recovery. You will support individuals navigating complex systems and transitions, including hospital discharge, navigating recovery pathways and community reintegration. The referral pathway into the service will be developed as part of the pilot.

This role is central to capturing lived experience, advocating for inclusive and anti‑racist service design and delivery and contributing to the transformation of community mental health care across South Tees.
