The Hope Foundation are seeking a reliable Assistant Café Manager to support the daily operations of our café during lunchtime hours with additional hours to provide holiday cover when the Café Manager is on leave. This is a part-time role working 2 hours per day from 11.30am – 1.30pm offering the opportunity to work in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the smooth running of café operations during working hours, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Supervise and support café staff, maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Manage inventory and ensure stock levels are adequate during shifts.
  • Oversee cash handling, including operating the till and reconciling takings as necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Step into the role of the Café Manager when required, overseeing the full operation during holiday cover.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role or in hospitality is preferred.
  • Previous barista experience is desirable
  • Strong background in food preparation and culinary practices.
  • Proven skills in team management and leadership, with the ability to motivate staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
  • Flexibility to provide additional cover when needed.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
