Overview

Middlesbrough Football Club are looking to recruit a full time First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach based at the Rockliffe Park Training Ground in Hurworth, near Darlington.

Reporting to the Head of Athletic Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering sessions to the 1st Team and individuals as required, contributing to the MFC physical development philosophy.

This position is suited to a Strength and Conditioning Coach with experience in a First Team structure, who is comfortable working with data and has an interest in the physical development of full-time players at the club.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver strength and conditioning to large groups and individuals, primarily in the gym, with occasional on-field sessions.
  • Lead preparation sessions aligned with the physical requirements of specific technical/tactical sessions.
  • Use periodisation models to develop strength and conditioning plans in line with the MFC technical/tactical/physical periodisation model.
  • Apply evidence-based physical testing procedures to contribute to MFC’s testing and monitoring protocols.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute effectively during departmental meetings.
  • Generate innovative ideas to improve the efficiency of practices for the benefit of the department and the club.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Significant experience of delivering Strength and Conditioning in professional sport with a strong understanding of evidence-based practices.
  • Degree in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science or a related subject.
  • UKSCA, NSCA or ASCA Strength and Conditioning accreditation.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience with software including VALD, Power BI, Catapult, Team Builder, and standard Microsoft/Apple software.
  • Strong organisational, logistical and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with players and staff.
  • High standards of attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and unsociable hours as the job demands.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
  • EXOS-XPS qualification and/or mentorship experience.
  • BASES accreditation (or working towards).

The salary for the role is competitive and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates at interview stage.
