Middlesbrough Council is the lead authority across the Tees Valley for traffic signals design, maintenance, and installation. We manage the UTMC and UTC systems on behalf of these authorities to proactively manage the network, keep traffic flowing, and deliver on transport strategies.

We are seeking 2 dedicated Traffic Signals Engineers to join our team. As a Traffic Signals Engineer, you will play a vital role in the installation and maintenance of traffic signals equipment and other Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment throughout the Tees Valley area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, Variable Message Signs (VMS), and other ITS equipment within the Tees Valley area.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure the smooth operation of traffic management systems.
  • Participate in the installation of new junctions and related equipment.
  • Work on an 'on-call' standby rota to address emergency maintenance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
