We are seeking to recruit a skilled technician with proven experience of working in a measurement, calibration or testing environment. Following refurbishment, items progress into a clean-room environment for calibration, where you will work with modern ultra-precision measurement equipment. The use of these instruments requires good manual dexterity, concentration and problem-solving ability. Full training will be provided for any laboratory equipment that is unfamiliar.
You will assist with the day-to-day operation of the Metrology Centre, including user-based maintenance of equipment. The role also involves dealing with straightforward enquiries from business customers and partner organisations, and accurately recording and processing calibration results using our laboratory management database. This is a challenging and rewarding role that includes significant manual handling responsibilities.

Please note, this is a part time vacancy, working 22.5 hours per week. This post is based with Tees Valley Joint Services at the Metrology Centre, Cannon Park, Middlesbrough. Tees Valley Joint Services delivers a range of regulatory and specialist functions on behalf of the Tees Valley local authorities. The Metrology Centre supports local industry by helping businesses comply with legal metrology requirements and by providing a mass calibration service for process control and quality assurance.
This is a hands-on, physical role based within a well-equipped specialist facility. You will be required to handle a wide range of weights and equipment as they undergo refurbishment and calibration. This will include the use of lifting equipment such as cranes and fork-lift trucks to safely handle heavier items.
