We have an exciting role on offer within our Environmental Services as a Waste Engagement Officer. At Middlesbrough Council, we are committed to delivering ambitious environmental goals to ensure a sustainable future for our residents and local businesses.
You will be attending schools, roadshows, community councils and meetings to increase awareness about the importance of recycling and reducing residents' waste.
To be successful in this role you need a full UK Driving License and proof of Business Insurance and a Waste Management or Environment or Communications related qualification or demonstrate experience to a similar level. You will also need to be educated to A Level standards or an equivalent amount of relevant experience.
You will have a responsibility for:
- Assisting in the provision of advice and information on the Council's approach to minimise waste and on recycling and waste initiatives to a range of different audiences.
- Preparing and delivering presentations and creating publicity and literature and other communications, including social media in relation to the service.
- Assisting in carrying out door to door visits including undertaking waste audits with members of the public and relevant organisations to encourage recycling and waste minimisation.
- Assisting in carrying out research into areas relevant to the service.
- Assisting in liaising with local forums, schools and businesses as needed in relation to the service.
