We have an exciting role on offer within our Access and Safeguarding service for two Social Workers.
To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2027.
If you are you looking for a new challenge, then the Hospital Social Work Team is for you!
This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Work Student about to qualify, a newly qualified Social Worker looking to complete the ASYE or an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge within Adult Social Care.
Do you have the passion to support people living with diverse needs including (but not limited to) autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties and educational needs, people with acquired brain injuries and people who experience addiction and significant trauma?
The role involves working directly using the conversational, person-centred and trauma informed approach promoting independence and discussing how to support individuals to meet their goals and aspirations.
You will undertake strengths based assessments under the Care Act 2014 and develop plans to meet the desired outcomes of both service users and carers alike. In the Adult Hospital Social Work Team, you will be working collaboratively with partner agencies including South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust and Accessing Change Together (ACT) Middlesbrough, amongst many others including the Voluntary and Private Sector, whilst working to achieve the best outcomes for our communities. You will work with experienced and settled teams, holding an interesting and varied caseload. You will have the opportunity to take a blended contract, working from home as well working from Daisy Lane, our open planned and modern office along with our varied health colleagues.
Applications are sought from individuals who are committed to demonstrating the values of Middlesbrough Council. If you are a qualified social worker with the skills and drive to help continue to improve services and support for our adults, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
If this is you, this may be the opportunity you are looking for!
If you would like to talk through this opportunity further, please contact Roberta Abchiche on roberta_abchiche@middlesbrough.gov.uk

We expect our experienced Social Workers to hold BIA (Grade K and L), Practice Educator or AMHP (Grade L) qualifications as outlined in our progression criteria. If you do not currently hold the relevant qualification, we welcome your application and will expect a commitment to undertaking the appropriate training upon commencing employment, with full support provided.
