This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an ambitious partnership at the heart of the North East as the new Joint Director of Public Health for South Tees.

Serving the communities of Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland, you will be the strategic leader and independent advocate for population health, driving action to improve health outcomes, reduce inequalities and create healthier communities for current and future generations.

Working across a range of key strategic partners, you will shape policy, influence services and champion a prevention-focused approach that delivers lasting change.

About the Role

You will:

• Provide strategic public health leadership across South Tees.
• Lead statutory public health responsibilities and improve population health outcomes.
• Drive action to reduce health inequalities and promote health in all policies.
• Lead delivery of the South Tees Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
• Influence key partnerships across the Integrated Care System and wider region.
• Lead responses to health protection incidents and emergencies.
• Ensure evidence-led decision-making and effective use of public health intelligence.
• Oversee public health resources, including budgets, commissioning and workforce development.

About You

You will be an inspirational and credible public health leader with:

• Significant senior leadership experience in public health.
• A strong track record of influencing across complex systems and partnerships.
• Experience of improving population health outcomes and tackling inequalities.
• Expertise in health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health.
• Strong political awareness and experience working with elected members and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the statutory requirements for appointment and therefore must:

• Be included in the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register, General Dental Council (GDC) Specialist List, or the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) at the point of application; or
• Be a Public Health Specialty Registrar within six months of obtaining registration and able to provide the required evidence.

You will also hold:

• Membership of the Faculty of Public Health (MFPH) or equivalent.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and ongoing professional
