With a thriving University and new high-quality office buildings in the centre of town, we are seeing large professional businesses moving into Middlesbrough and leisure facilities emerging to support the staff that they attract. Middlesbrough is growing, and with easy access to beautiful coastline and the North Yorks Moors, it is a great place to live and work. You will find that Middlesbrough is a proud town with a strong sense of identity and history. With a complex mix of nationalities and ethnicities alongside a post-industrial history of chronic ill-health and some of the most deprived wards in England, it is a challenging but extremely rewarding place to work.

As the Housing Services Strategic Lead, you would oversee the operational delivery of our Homeless Service, from the point of contact through to the point of case closure. You will also lead on the following key areas:

  • Our homeless and Rough Sleeping Strategy and action plan.
  • Joint Protocols with adult and children’s social care.
  • The relationship between the Council and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
  • Our Housing Strategic Needs Assessment.
  • Market shaping and the operational oversight of contracts with our commissioned providers.
  • Budget management.

You will be expected to be an ambassador for practice standards, to lead on service development, deputise for the ACT Lead Officer, and to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will receive development opportunities and career planning alongside flexible working with the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate). New staff joining Middlesbrough can expect a warm welcome from the teams, our Director and Chief Executive, and a full induction process. At Middlesbrough, we truly live our values and incorporate them into everything we do. We are passionate about improving the lives of our residents, focused on achieving best outcomes, and creative in the way we work with customers, ensuring they get the best support available.

If you are an experienced manager with the skills and drive to help continue to improve services and support for our residents, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
