Job Description:
We have an exciting role on offer within our Marketing and Communications service as a Digital Communications Assistant.
About Us
We are looking for a creative and focused individual to help us tell our story. As a Digital Communications Assistant in our Marketing and Communications team, you will have a busy and varied role demonstrating how the Council is delivering services. We’re rolling out a new Neighbourhoods Model which will take Council services closer to the people who use them. You would play a key role in demonstrating how this improves lives in Middlesbrough and often be out in our communities alongside our frontline staff.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable using social media and has experience of working with websites. Under supervision, you will write copy that is simple to understand for a wide audience, take your own photographs and film short videos. Your work will feature on social media, on websites and on printed and e-newsletters. You will also have a role in delivering our public information campaigns, including topics such as recycling and public health.
As part of the wider Marketing and Communications team, you will on occasion also contribute to other projects linked to different service areas. You will have experience of working under pressure and at speed. As this role includes an element of working from home you should be aware some appointments will take place remotely.
Please note, this a fixed term vacancy until 31st July 2026.
If this is you, this may be the opportunity you are looking for!
In return we can offer:
- Generous leave entitlement with an option to purchase up to 10 additional days annual leave per year.
- Staff networks run by our staff for our staff.
- Flexible working (dependent on job role).
- Electric car lease scheme.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Employee benefits portal including Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programme.
- Staff lottery.
- Travel and car parking schemes.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Fantastic career progression opportunities and lots more!
