Teacher of A level Sociology and Criminology (Sixth Form)
Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD
Salary: £29,565 – £43,562 per annum (subject to progression criteria)
Contract type: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)
Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays
Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum

What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan a program of study for the curriculum that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with evidence‑based approaches, subject content knowledge and the needs of student groups.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work and student feedback meet Middlesbrough College Standards.
- Offer pastoral support and feed into the Thrive programme of tutorial and enrichment opportunities for students in line with the college’s tutorial standards and develop students Personal Development beyond the curriculum.
- Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the delivery of the teaching and learning strategy.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for intervention and acceleration toward academic achievement.
- Promote numeracy and literacy in all teaching and learning practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher.
- Relevant Degree or equivalent.
- GCSEs at C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Relevant experience of teaching A level Sociology and/or Level 3 Criminology.
- Experience in planning and delivering exam‑based qualifications.
- Track record of good and outstanding teaching outcomes.
- Current knowledge of IAG relating to career opportunities for post‑16 learners and HE progression routes.
