Student Support Mentor – Health and Care

Job details – Posted 12 May 2025 – Salary £19,727 – £20,628 per annum – Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD – Contract: Permanent – Hours: 37 per week – Reference: 001862 – Expiry: 03 November 2025.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work closely with the Curriculum area and have an input into identifying student needs, planning and implementing strategies, coaching, intervention to support student engagement, well‑being and achievement.
  • Plan and deliver a range of targeted interventions, utilising vocationally specific specialist knowledge from teaching staff where appropriate.
  • Prioritise High‑Needs students if and when required.
  • Attend regular training & CPD delivered by the Additional Learning Support Department in relation to the role.
  • Contribute and work alongside other staff within the department to ensure that the attendance, retention and achievement of students with Additional Support Needs are effectively monitored.

What We’re Looking For

  • Possess an appropriate Level 2 qualification or equivalent in supporting students with learning difficulties/care or the commitment to complete within an agreed timescale.
  • Hold grade 4/C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Be willing to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Hold a Risk Assessment Qualification – Desirable.
  • Hold a First Aid Qualification – Desirable.
