Job Title: Sixth Form Academic Progress Coach
Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD
Department: MC6
Reporting to: Assistant Principal Sixth Form
Salary: Business Support Scale 6, Points 23-25, £25,115.66 to £26,795.11 per annum (actual)
Contractual hours: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks
Basis: Full time, Term Time Only
Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group academic coaching sessions to support progress across a range of A Level and Applied subjects.
- Help students develop effective study skills, revision techniques, organisation, and independent learning strategies.
- Be able to use student performance data and referrals from teaching/pastoral staff to identify underachievement and support with appropriate interventions.
- Support students in setting realistic academic and personal targets and review progress against them regularly.
- Supervise and manage the Sixth Form study areas to ensure a purposeful and positive learning atmosphere.
- Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and engagement in line with Sixth Form standards.
- Deliver structured academic mentoring sessions that also foster confidence, resilience, and motivation.
Qualifications
- Relevant Level 3 qualification.
- GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Coaching, mentoring or guidance training/qualification (Desirable).
- Teaching qualification (Desirable).
- First Aid Qualification (Desirable).
