Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Middlesbrough College who are recruiting for a Director of Estates on a permanent basis.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time (Mon – Fri 8:30am-5pm)

Benefits: 36 Days annual leave plus bank holidays, Local Government Pension Scheme

The Director of Estates is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the College estate. The postholder is responsible for leading the operational delivery of the College's estates functions, ensuring all campuses, buildings, infrastructure and associated services are safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose. The role supports the delivery of the College Strategic Plan, Estates Strategy and Sustainability Strategy through the effective management of maintenance, statutory compliance, security, engineering systems, grounds, logistics, print services and goods-in operations.

  • Contribute to delivery of the College Strategic Plan and Estates Strategy.
  • Ensure the estates and support services functions enable excellent learner and staff experience.
  • Contribute to the Colleges Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero action plan.
  • The postholder is required to commit to possessing or developing digital skills appropriate to their role, as defined in the College’s Core Digital Skills framework.
  • Ensure campus services software systems are appropriate and effectively utilised.
  • Oversee building fabric, mechanical and electrical services and grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical, lifting and pressure systems regulations.
  • Manage estates budgets - capital and revenue.
  • Manage the Contractor database and contractor performance.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, assurance reports and audit trails.
  • Ensure effective access control, CCTV, alarms, key management and incident response arrangements.
  • Lead on Emergency planning and disaster recovery related to site safety.
  • Support the Vice-principal Campus & Digital Services with Governors and other reporting.

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

Relevant management training / qualification or experience.

A valid driving licence.

Strong knowledge of estates maintenance, statutory compliance and security operations.

Sound understanding of UK health, safety and building compliance legislation.

Budget management, procurement and contractor control skills.

Significant experience in estates or facilities management within a complex organisation.
