Engineering Tutor/Trainer – Hourly Paid. Location: Middlesbrough. Job type: Casual. Salary £18.24 per hour inclusive of holiday pay. Posted 11 July 2025. Expiry 15 September 2025.
We’re looking for a dedicated Hourly Paid Tutor in Engineering to deliver high-quality, practical and theory-based training to adult learners across a range of disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance, Welding, CAD, and more. You’ll support learners through flexible, roll-on, roll-off programmes, helping them gain the skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace.
Based within an Outstanding-rated Adult and Community Learning department, you’ll play a vital role in transforming lives and addressing skills gaps across the Tees Valley. If you’re passionate about engineering and inspiring others, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver provision based on competence-based skills to standards set by external bodies, industry-led bodies, and awarding bodies. Continually ensuring that material and delivery meets Middlesbrough Colleges Gold standard.
- Train, assess and demonstrate to support learners on competence based/skills-based learning programmes devised.
- Assist individual learners in the development of their individual learning plan to achieve their objectives and to meet external set standards.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure safety in the classroom in the college for all students.
- Support the student application and enrolment process in liaison with teaching staff and administrative staff.
- Contribute to promotional materials and activities within the learning programmes, publicity, and public relations events, e.g., open days. To actively support with the recruitment of learners where needed to ensure targets are met.
Qualifications
- Hold a relevant industrial qualification at a minimum Level 4 – Essential
- Hold a Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) – Essential.
- Have a commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Assessor and Verifier Awards – Desirable
- Health and Safety in Engineering qualification / CCNSG card – Desirable
- IOSH – Essential
- Teaching or Training Qualification – Desirable
