Salary: Tutor/Trainer Scale, Points 3- 11, £24,856 – £33,896 per annum
Additional Sector based scale of up to £37,284 p.a. for exceptional sector roles (determined by the college)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Basis: Full time/ Permanent

Join Our Team
We’re looking for a dedicated Tutor in Engineering to deliver high-quality, practical and theory-based training to adult learners across a range of disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance, Welding, CAD, and more. You’ll support learners through flexible, roll-on, roll-off programmes, helping them gain the skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace.
Based within an Outstanding-rated Adult and Community Learning department, you’ll play a vital role in transforming lives and addressing skills gaps across the Tees Valley. If you’re passionate about engineering and inspiring others, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Tutor in Engineering, you will:
- Plan and deliver skills-based training aligned with standards set by external, industry-led, and awarding bodies.
- Train, assess, and support learners on competence-based programmes, helping them develop practical skills and achieve learning objectives.
- Assist learners in creating and progressing through individual learning plans, ensuring alignment with externally set standards.
- Maintain a safe learning environment, taking appropriate precautions to ensure student safety within the classroom and college premises.
- Manage and maintain learning resources and equipment, reporting any faults or repair needs to relevant staff.
- Support student application and enrolment processes, working collaboratively with teaching and administrative teams.
- Provide guidance and support to students throughout their learning journey.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking candidates who:
- To hold a relevant industrial qualification at a minimum Level 3 – Essential
- Be prepared to commence an appropriate qualification on appointment to the post.
- Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) – Essential.
- A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Assessor and Verifier Awards – Desirable
- Health and Safety in Engineering qualification / CCNSG card – Desirable
- IOSH – Essential
- NEBOSH – Desirable
- 18th Edition/2391 Inspection & Testing – Desirable
- Teaching or Training Qualification – Desirable
