We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to join our team and deliver high-quality teaching across BTEC and T Level courses. The successful candidate will plan and deliver a wide range of challenging and relevant learning experiences that enable all learners to develop and apply the skills, knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes essential for success in 21st-century life, learning, and work. You will be committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments, supporting learners in their academic and personal development, and ensuring confidentiality, diplomacy, and discretion are maintained at all times.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough College Gold Standards.
- Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
- Participate in Interval Verification requirements including the preparation for Awarding Body visits.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the College for all students.

- To be a qualified assessor or willing to work towards.
- To hold a minimum of a Level 5 in Mechanical Engineering.
- GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.

The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) & QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
