The Role: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in Maths to join our innovative ROOTS provision, supporting NEET learners aged 16–18 to re‑engage with education and achieve meaningful progression. This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed practitioner who has the skills, resilience, and enthusiasm to work with learners who may have experienced barriers to education and require a supportive, flexible, and inclusive approach. You will deliver engaging and accessible Functional Skills Maths sessions to small groups of learners within our ROOTS provision. The role focuses on building confidence, improving attainment, and supporting learners to progress into further education, training, or employment. While the primary focus of this role is delivering Functional Skills Maths to learners aged 16–18 within our ROOTS provision, the successful candidate may also be required to teach adult learners, depending on curriculum and organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths sessions tailored to individual needs.
• Support learners to develop confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Differentiating teaching to meet a wide range of abilities, including those with additional needs.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records in line with college requirements.
• Contribute to personalised learning plans and target setting.

About You: We are looking for a candidate who:

• Holds (or is willing to work towards) a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed).
• Has a strong background in delivering Functional Skills Maths or GCSE Maths.
• Has experience working with NEET learners, disengaged young people, or within PRU / alternative provision settings.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills.
• Is committed to inclusive practice and supporting vulnerable learners.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Is motivated to make a real difference to learners’ lives.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience within a PRU, alternative provision, or youth support setting.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and supporting learners with SEMH needs.
• Experience working with EAL learners or learners with additional learning needs.
