*The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
The Role
Middlesbrough College is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Lecturer in Building Services Engineering to join our Construction department. You will deliver the Core curriculum of the Level 3 T Level in Building Services Engineering, teaching a range of subjects including construction science, building technology, sustainability, construction design and digital technologies.
This is primarily a classroom-based role, with opportunities to support practical learning where appropriate. Using your industry experience, you will bring learning to life through real-world construction and engineering examples, preparing students for further study and careers within the construction and building services sectors. The role may also include delivery across Further and Higher Education programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Building Services Engineering and Construction programmes.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
- Support students to achieve successful outcomes in examinations and assessments.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and development needs.
- Maintain accurate records in line with College and awarding body requirements.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Participate in recruitment, enrolment, open events and other promotional activities.
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified Teacher or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
- Qualified Assessor or willingness to work towards.
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Construction, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
Desirable
- Level 6 qualification (Degree or equivalent) in Construction, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of current issues affecting the Construction and Engineering sectors.
- Understanding of career opportunities and progression routes within the industry.
Desirable
- Teaching experience within Construction, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience of teaching apprenticeship, Further Education and/or Higher Education programmes within Construction, Engineering or the Built Environment.

- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
