The Role
We are seeking an inspiring teacher educator to shape the next generation of lecturers. If you’re passionate about excellent classroom practice and love coaching and mentoring others, this role is for you. You’ll design and deliver engaging training, model effective pedagogy, and support trainees with clear feedback and practical strategies. You will be committed to high standards of teaching, learning and assessment, and to promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive environment through robust safeguarding practice for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with evidence-informed practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough College Gold Standards.
- Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the Gold Standard of Teaching and Learning.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
Qualifications
- To be a qualified teacher / hold a PGCE
- To hold a degree in education or a related discipline
- To hold a relevant qualification at Masters level
- GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
Experience
- Current knowledge and / or experience of one or more field of education and training.
- Relevant experience in a teaching position in Further Education or Secondary Education.
- Recent experience delivering on Certificate in Education and/or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education programmes.
Knowledge & Skills
- Current knowledge of potential issues in Education and Training that may impact on curriculum delivery
- Knowledge of career opportunities for 16‑18 and 19+ students in Education and Training
- Good oral and written communication skills with a capacity to deal effectively with staff, students, parents, employers and others.
- To have good time management and organisational skills.
- Evidence of disseminating own good practice effectively.
- Ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom.
