We are seeking an ambitious Head of Business Development within our Commercial sector to lead our employer engagement and commercial training strategy, playing a pivotal role in delivering sustainable apprenticeship growth and supporting outstanding learner outcomes. In this senior leadership role, you will oversee a high-performing team, manage key employer accounts, and drive a robust sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are identified, converted, and maximised. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will shape and deliver strategies that align with regional skills priorities and organisational goals, while providing expert guidance to employers on funding, workforce development, and training solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial team and oversee the employer pipeline.
  • Manage key accounts and build strategic partnerships, including MOUs.
  • Drive apprenticeship growth in priority sectors through strong employer engagement and account management.
  • Support delivery of income targets through a more joined‑up commercial approach.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification, or substantial senior experience in a relevant field.
  • GCSE Mathematics & English (or equivalent).

Experience

  • Proven experience of leading, managing and developing staff teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering against challenging targets and performance measures.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Experience in business development, account management & professional networking.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team to achieve targets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
