The Role

Are you practical, organised, and passionate about supporting the next generation of construction professionals? We are seeking a Construction Technician to play a key role in supporting practical teaching and learning within our Construction department. This role will support growth and multiple workshops in Electrical and Plumbing. You will work closely with teaching staff, you will help prepare workshops for classes, maintain equipment and facilities, manage stock and resources, and ensure a safe and effective learning environment for students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction industry experience who enjoys a hands‑on role and wants to contribute to the success of learners and the wider College community.

Key Responsibilities

• To undertake stock control of consumable items including kit allocations and checking of items when delivered. Ensuring that all items are locked away when not in use.
• To ensure that all equipment and machines are in a safe working order and report defects accordingly.
• To prepare the workshops in advance of classes.
• To undertake the general maintenance routines in line with Health & Safety procedures.
• To assist the Curriculum Lecturers as required during the course of the class.

Qualifications

• Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Commitment to continuous professional updating.
• A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
• To hold a relevant trade qualification – Desirable.

Experience

• Experience of working in a Construction environment.
• Experience of being able to carry out Construction activities.
• Experience of managing facilities.

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic knowledge of rules and regulations in a variety of Construction trades.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• IT skills appropriate to the needs of the post.
• Good communication skills.
