Permanent position based in London with hybrid working (3-4 days office presence). Salary up to £130,000.

Middlemore is retained on a senior HRBP search for one of London Market's most compelling insurers, on a full-time permanent basis. The HRBP role has a true generalist remit with specific focus on an underwriting and front office client group. As a key member of the senior HR team, this role contributes to HR strategy and high levels of operational delivery.

The role entails:

  • High levels of senior leadership influencing, education, and business partnering.
  • Serving as a key advisor and strategic partner to leadership, ensuring organisational goals are achieved through effective management of human resources initiatives, including talent management and attraction, employee engagement, culture development, and workforce planning.
  • Working closely with small centres of expertise or Global functions, requiring a deep understanding of the full HR lifecycle, from talent attraction to off-boarding.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in close partnership with HR Centres of Expertise.
  • Key contributor and executor of overall strategic planning for the HR function.
  • In partnership with client groups, take a proactive approach to the development and delivery of specific HR strategies aligned to local business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute organisational strategy.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company’s long-term vision, objectives, and business priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives that significantly impact the organisation’s performance.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development.
  • Act as a champion for employee engagement, fostering an inclusive culture that drives performance and innovation.
  • Provide guidance and direction on workforce planning, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing insight and advice on HR-related matters that influence key business decisions.
  • Anticipate future HR trends and challenges and proactively design initiatives to address them.

As a subject matter expert, deliver and be accountable for:

  • Client relationships and stakeholder management at all levels of the organisation.
  • Manpower and resource planning.
  • Organisational effectiveness and design.
  • Employee relations, legal and regulatory accountability, with legal expertise in the UK and preferably some experience in European territories.
  • Risk management – development of and compliance to all legal and regulatory frameworks with legal expertise in the UK and across CICE.
  • Contributing to and delivering an employee value proposition that attracts and retains the best talent and inspires top performance.

People Leadership:

  • Educate leadership, managers, and supervisors on all aspects of people management and leadership.
  • Display high levels of collaboration across the whole HR team.
  • Work closely with the HR Operations Director to ensure co-ownership of a first-class operational service for employees.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through leading by example and setting the tone for the human resources function and the broader organisation.
  • Develop and utilise core HR metrics to inform business leaders and drive informed decision-making.
  • Identify and drive efficiency and improvement across the whole HR function as a senior member of the HR team.

Background:

  • Experience working in an Insurance business and partnering with underwriting functions is essential.
  • Proven experience as a senior HRBP with strong operational expertise in the UK.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law, benefits, pensions, and contracts, with the ability to apply this in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-jurisdictional organisations.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with a focus on building credibility and trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Resilience, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate and drive change in a fast-evolving environment.
