Interim HR Business Partner (Part-Time, 12-Month FTC – Maternity Cover – May Start) London (West End) | 4 days per week | Office-based (3 days) | Professional Services

Middlemore are retained on a new project. We’re looking for an experienced, pragmatic HR Business Partner to join a small, high-impact HR team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, non-bureaucratic environment, where pace, ownership, and practical problem-solving matter more than heavy process. You’ll be trusted to take work from concept through to delivery, operating with autonomy and confidence while building credibility quietly with senior stakeholders.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of HR, you’ll provide end-to-end HR business partnering support to a growing client group, initially within Customer Experience and potentially expanding across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing proactive, commercially focused HR Business Partnering
  • Supporting senior leadership teams with people strategy and advisory matters
  • Managing low-volume, low-complexity ER issues
  • Supporting recruitment activity (typically 1–2 hires at a time)
  • Driving employee engagement and general people advisory work

Projects & Added Value

Alongside BAU HRBP activity, this role offers genuine ownership of meaningful people initiatives, including:

  • Leading the annual Talent Review process end-to-end
  • Acting as the SME for Talent Management and L&D
  • Designing and delivering learning and development programmes
  • Contributing to wider People & Culture initiatives as a senior, experienced team member

About You

This role will suit someone who is:

  • Pragmatic, delivery-focused, and comfortable working with minimal structure
  • Confident but understated, with the ability to influence without disruption
  • Happy to roll up their sleeves and support across the HR function when needed
  • Experienced in SME or agile environments (or demonstrably comfortable working autonomously)
  • Positive, mature, and brings a sense of fun to their work

Ideal industry experience – Professional Services, Consulting, ‘Small’ Financial Services businesses. Those from highly matrixed, policy-heavy environments may find this role less suitable.

Reward & Benefits

Salary: £80,000 FTE (flexible for exceptional experience)
Bonus: 24% of base salary (pro-rated), linked to performance and paid at contract completion
Pension: 15% employer contribution
Benefits: Full benefits package, including private medical and dental (where selected)

Flexible choice of working days, subject to stakeholder coverage
