Role: Claims Manager – Speciality Lines

Middlemore have been appointed to recruit for a Claims Manager Speciality Lines role with a leading (re)insurance group, enabling sustainable economic development by fulfilling unmet insurance needs globally. We are particularly interested in someone with strong technical expertise in handling complex claims, including the legal aspects of claims management. Experience in political risk and trade credit claims is essential, alongside exposure to other specialty lines within our portfolio.
You will
- Shape and deliver a first-class claims service
- Manage a portfolio of claims from first notification to settlement
- Partner closely with Underwriting, Operations, Finance, Actuarial, brokers and capacity providers
- Represent the firm with clients and brokers
- Mentor and develop junior claims team members
- Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies across Claims
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head of Claims in building a high-performing claims function, own your claims portfolio, maintain claims strategies and flowlines on significant matters, ensure claims are handled per the firm's Claims Philosophy and Guidelines, manage internal/external queries, assist in developing a Key Service Provider panel, undertake continuing professional development, and mentor junior team members.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong technical claims experience
- Experience in political risk and trade credit claims
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyse policy wordings for coverage and response
- Methodical, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, collaborative, with strong time management
- Proactive in identifying and resolving issues
