This is an in-person professional development programme designed to develop senior HR professionals who are stepping into the Chief People Officer (CPO) role as their next career milestone. In partnership with the CityHR Association, we are working together to build the CPO of tomorrow. Using our collective expertise and thought-leadership specialists from across the Financial Services landscape, we have created a free-of-charge professional development programme designed to equip the next generation of CPO with the toolkit they need to be successful.

The “CPO Accelerator Programme” is a year-long, experiential, module-based learning initiative. For a dedicated cohort of up to 30 participants, it is exclusively focused on preparing them to become impactful CPOs to meet the evolving needs of modern commercial organisations. The programme is aimed at Human Resources professionals who have been identified as having the potential and aspiration to assume the CPO role as their next career milestone.

Our unique “look behind the curtain” approach to professional development offers participants exclusive insight into the life of a CPO across a wide variety of organisations. Each of the monthly sessions are delivered as in-person workshops, designed and delivered by CPOs and senior HR specialist thought leaders — ensuring the content is leading-edge and applicable to current business demands. Through a dynamic curriculum refreshed quarterly, the programme blends theoretical foundations and concepts with real-world applications.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted role of the modern CPO and an understanding of different organisational cultures. From cultivating a high-performance organisational culture to navigating complex talent management challenges, this programme equips HR professionals with the tools and strategies to thrive in an ever-changing business environment.

What to expect:

  • Monthly in-person workshops across London (excluding school holiday seasons)
  • Designed and delivered by incumbent CPOs
  • Governed by an oversight board of established CPOs
  • Exclusively tailored to the Financial Services sector

Who is it for?

This programme is designed exclusively for Senior Human Resources Leaders in the financial services sector who have the potential and aspiration to assume the departmental lead CPO position as their next career milestone.

Eligibility criteria for the programme:

  • You must currently hold an incumbent senior Human Resources position in the financial services sector—this includes secondments. However, this does not include outside IR35 assignments.
  • Currently hold a senior Human Resources position—this includes specialist roles across the COE, inclusive of dual-focus roles and Chief of Staff (or similar) positions with oversight of People and Culture (HR), subject to appropriate line manager endorsement and confirmation.
  • Currently reside in the UK—the programme requires you to attend the sessions in person.
  • Aspire to become a CPO over the medium term (3-5 years).
  • Commit to attending up to 12 in-person sessions across the City of London, held monthly.
