About the Role
As the Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the daily activities within the warehouse to ensure efficient and timely storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods. This role requires strong team leadership, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across warehouse processes.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead, supervise, and develop warehouse and administration staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with operational and safety standards. Allocate daily workloads and monitor shift progress to meet operational targets. Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and address performance concerns. Plan staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all warehouse functions. Foster a collaborative, positive team environment that encourages communication, accountability, and problem-solving.
- Inventory Control and Order Fulfilment: Oversee inventory management processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and minimising discrepancies. Ensure all incoming and outgoing goods are processed in line with company procedures. Monitor order picking, packing, and shipping to guarantee timely and accurate fulfilment. Coordinate cycle counting activities and support periodic physical inventory audits. Ensure proper labelling and tagging of all goods to maintain traceability and system accuracy. Utilise Microsoft Dynamics D365 to support stock management, order processing, and system reporting.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce compliance with all warehouse safety standards, IOSH guidelines, and internal company policies. Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure correct use of PPE. Lead regular safety briefings and training sessions for all warehouse staff. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions as required. Ensure all emergency exits, fire safety equipment, and first-aid supplies remain accessible and functional.
- Warehouse Operations and Efficiency: Continually optimise warehouse layout, workflows, and storage systems to improve efficiency and maximise space utilisation. Oversee the correct use and maintenance of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pump trucks). Develop and refine operational procedures to improve accuracy, productivity, and speed. Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions to reduce downtime and enhance performance.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records for inventory, shipments, and operational activities. Produce daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports including productivity, stock accuracy, and fulfilment KPIs. Ensure all documentation, such as receiving logs and shipping records, is completed accurately and promptly. Use Microsoft Dynamics D365 for reporting, tracking KPIs, and maintaining operational data integrity.
- Customer Service: Work closely with customer service teams to resolve order discrepancies or issues. Address customer concerns relating to shipments, returns, or damages, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution. Manage all logistics-related tasks to ensure goods are dispatched to customers cost-effectively and efficiently. Maintain cooperative working relationships with partner companies within the shared warehouse environment (e.g., Lincat, Spooner Vicars, Wunderbar UK).
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics D365 or similar ERP/WMS platforms (Highly Desirable).
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Demonstrated success in managing warehouse operations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- ILM (or equivalent) level 3 or above in management. (Desirable)
