Middle Eastern Interpreting (MEI) is a Yorkshire-based interpreting and translation company built on transparency, accuracy, and integrity.

We work with clients, interpreters, and the wider community to bridge language and cultural gaps with honesty and clarity.

Please note that all positions are freelance roles.

We are currently looking to recruit an interpreter in Somali language for remote (telephone and video) as well as face-to-face assignments.

The Role As a freelance interpreter with MEI, you will work closely with organisations such as law firms, private companies, healthcare providers, and charities.

You will help non-English speakers access essential services by interpreting conversations accurately and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to MEI's interpreter code of conduct, ensuring professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality.
  • Provide accurate and effective interpreting services across legal, health, and government settings.
  • Adapt to different interpreting scenarios and settings, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.

  • Fluency in English and Somali.
  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Previous experience in interpreting or translation.
