A training practice both GP training and medical students. A mixture of salaried GPs and partners. Excellent Nursing team who all take part in chronic disease management. The pharmacist and pharmacy technician deal with queries, putting on medications from discharge summaries and structured medication reviews. Access to ARRS staff who are appointed by the PCN such as mental health practitioners, care co-ordinator, first contact physio and a dietician in addition to in house based Care Coordinators. EMIS and AccuRx. Situated in a market town with excellent links for commuting as it is on the London to Edinburgh Railway line and on the A1M. There is also international cricket at the Riverside Cricket Ground. Branch site is situated in a small village called Rickleton in Washington. Both Chester le street practices are less than 30 minutes away from Newcastle, Durham City and Sunderland and within easy reach of the coast and spectacular countryside. Research Active. Multi site. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to undertake all of the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working in primary care. The post holder will also form a close working relationship with the practice/services where they are providing primary care services. A high degree of flexibility will be required along with willingness to adapt to fluctuations in practice workload and adaptable to the day to day demands of a busy general practice. The post holder will undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, resolving medication queries and completion of paperwork and correspondence.

Clinical responsibilities
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery, consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, (patient medical reports and examinations for Insurance Companies on behalf of the Practice, referral letters NHS/Private/CAB, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner, acting as duty doctor on a rota basis. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care worked within the organisation. Recording clear and contemporaneous computerised notes to agreed standard. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or nationally agreed guidelines. From time to time there may be extra duties/responsibilities that may be required of the post holder. These will be agreed with the Partners and there will be an expectation that new duties/responsibilities may be part of the role, but that they will be appropriate to the knowledge, skills and experience of the employed GP.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant policies/guidelines. A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice. A commitment (when seeing patients) to helping the practice promote safe, high-quality care. Maintain reaccreditation portfolio and undertake annual appraisal. Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting. Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records. Attending training, meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate. Responsibility for completing medical reports. To be professional at all times and maintain a formal dress code.

Qualifications
- A vocationally trained and accredited GP MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full registration with GMC
- Certification of Completion of Training

Experience
- A good knowledge of and interest in general practice and primary care
- Strong levels of IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems (EMIS WEB)
- Experience in using the Microsoft suite of programmes
- Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care case load
- A good understanding of primary care contracting requirements
- Overview of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and other healthcare professionals
- Progressive and forward-thinking attitude
- Understand the health and social needs of a local practice population
- Understanding of the current issues and challenges facing Primary Care
- Experience of supporting service change
