We are seeking CNC Burn Table Operators to join our Birmingham, Alabama Division of Pennsylvania Steel Company.
About Us: Pennsylvania Steel is one of the largest independently owned Steel Service Centers in the U.S., with 12 locations from Connecticut to Alabama. We’re proud of our 53-year legacy and the people who drive it forward every day.
We are hiring for multiple shifts on a full time, permanent basis.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC-controlled burn table to cut steel plate and sheet metal according to job specifications.
- Load and unload material using material handling equipment.
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and CAD files to set up machine parameters.
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments necessary to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Fulfill work orders involving order pulling, part marking, and packaging.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Other assignments as directed.
Experience and Skills:
- Proficient in Windows-based software and CNC control interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of decimals, fractions, and basic trigonometry.
- Proficient with tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Comfortable working in an industrial setting around machinery, overhead cranes, and moving equipment.
- Able to stand, bend, and lift throughout a full shift, including regular lifting over 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Must tolerate temperature fluctuations in an open warehouse environment.
