Hybrid role: Home based and 3 days per week at Sunderland Office with occasional travel to Cambridgeshire. £60 - 65K Basic Salary plus Bonus, Car allowance and Benefits. Full-Time.

Our client is a forward-thinking and growing national developer of renewable energy technology, and they are at the forefront of the UK's transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. We're expanding our Planning Team and are looking for a Senior Development Planner to help shape and deliver our portfolio of renewable energy projects with a particular focus on onshore wind.

Your Role:

  • Developing tailored planning strategies for new and existing renewable energy projects
  • Leading and coordinating planning applications, EIA processes, and appeals
  • Managing consultants and liaising with LPAs, communities, and key stakeholders
  • Monitoring national and local policy changes, and preparing timely responses
  • Supporting operational sites with ongoing planning requirements

You’ll work closely with our Planning Director, Project Managers, and multi-disciplinary teams to navigate complex planning systems and help bring projects to life.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:
  • Degree-qualified in Town & Country Planning (or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years of planning experience, ideally in renewables (wind highly desirable)
  • Chartered RTPI or IEMA member
  • Proven expertise in TCPA, DCO, and/or S36 regimes
  • Strong EIA knowledge and application experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence & willingness to travel when needed
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of the planning systems in both England and Scotland
