We are seeking a highly motivated advanced clinical practitioner to join the Division of Surgery in orthopaedic surgery, predominantly based at the MY Orthopaedic Hub.

The role is full-time, covering a seven-day service.

The role also includes dedicated study time allocation to enable clinical professional development.

The service provides day-to-day ward-based treatment and management of patients admitted on an elective pathway, along with pre-op joint clinics.

By employing the Trust values in all actions and activities undertaken, the focus is on delivering quality and high standards of care and providing an excellent patient experience each and every time.

The role is demanding; however, it is supported by the direct team, the wider medical team, and integration into the wider divisional advanced practice team.

The applicant will be dedicated, committed, passionate and enthusiastic, enabling compassionate care and treatment delivery.

As an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP), the role provides opportunities to act as a role model for staff. The ACP will work autonomously and in collaboration with nursing, medical and allied health professionals to assess patient needs, initiate investigations, determine differential diagnoses, and deliver appropriate, evidence-based, holistic care for orthopaedic inpatients and outpatients.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner Will

  • Work across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice, ensuring activities are underpinned by the multi-professional framework outlined by Health Education England (2017).
  • Adhere to robust governance processes within the organisation to ensure safety and quality in all actions.
  • Demonstrate confidence, competence and transparency in all aspects of the role.
  • Manage a personal caseload of patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery, both pre- and post-operatively, including the assessment of undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
  • Conduct audits to build an evidence base and identify opportunities for research and service improvement.
  • Provide formal and informal teaching, supervision and support to nursing, therapy and junior medical staff.
  • Support junior members of the ACP team and the wider clinical workforce.
  • Maintain high clinical standards and promoting excellence in care.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to undertake comprehensive assessments and management of patients, incorporating physiological, psychological and pharmacological considerations.
  • Making complex clinical decisions, including discharging patients when appropriate and arranging timely follow-up care.
  • Actively engaging in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting the senior management team in improving patient flow.
  • Delivering high standards of care and ensuring an excellent patient experience.
