Support the provision of an effective and proactive advice and guidance service to managers and staff working at MidKent College, assisting with the delivery of all such services including recruitment and selection, absence management, exit interviews, the organisation of occupational health clinics, the production of People data, employee relations, performance management and project support.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide advice, guidance and interpretation of conditions of service and policies for all managers and staff promoting the consistent application of People policies, practices and procedures across the College.
  • Produce and interpret management information reports and data to ensure that managers are aware of actions that need to be taken and to enable the People Business Partners to monitor compliance with college policies in order to support the delivery of an effective People service for the College.
  • Assist People Business Partners with the management of sickness absence cases, providing data for both Bradford factor and long-term sick absences and liaising with relevant occupational health support to achieve the swift resolution of individual cases. This will include organising occupational health referrals, including those needed for mini bus assessments and routine inoculations e.g. flu jabs.
  • Working with external and internal partners to ensure appropriate adjustments needs are met.
  • Support staff recruitment across the College in line with establishment requirements, including preparing and issuing offers, supporting internal and external recruitment events, and liaising with the Recruitment and Onboarding Manager, People Business Partners and hiring managers to deliver a high-quality recruitment service. This includes undertaking interviews as required.
  • Support with change management processes, arranging and attending meetings with managers and staff to address contractual issues as required.
  • Process all necessary paperwork in relation to maternity and paternity requests, liaising with managers and staff in case of queries.
  • Actively participate in the delivery of the People Strategy, including engagement, contribution and collaboration with colleagues to support the development and completion of objectives, projects and events.
  • Support and participate in the delivery of training on People / L&D processes, systems and procedures as required, in order to support both managers and staff in the use of HR and L&D facilities.
  • Support the delivery of shared services as required, providing cover for absences and additional capacity during peak periods.
  • Develop and apply People Partnering capability by supporting an allocated portfolio of areas, managing less complex employee relations matters and building experience in a business partnering capacity.
