We're looking for a hands-on Street Scene Operations Team Leader to help keep our outdoor services running smoothly. This is a practical, people-focused role where no two days are the same.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing day-to-day Street Scene operations and staff rotas
  • Making sure health & safety, housekeeping and security standards are met
  • Carrying out and recording vehicle, equipment and site checks
  • Supporting the Environment and Enforcement Manager with planning, performance monitoring and budgets
  • Managing vehicles, plant, equipment and PPE - including ordering and issuing
  • Supervising staff, agency workers and casual staff when needed
  • Supporting recruitment, inductions, training, 1-to-1s and appraisals
  • Handling sickness absence, holidays, timesheets and general staff discipline
  • Producing work schedules and regular reports
  • Liaising with councillors, residents, contractors and other council teams
  • Ensuring grass cutting, spraying and hedge work is completed on schedule
  • Overseeing seasonal works like planting, weeding and hoeing
  • Assisting with ad hoc and arboricultural work when required
  • Supervising grave digging and cemetery maintenance as directed/required
