Overview
Are you a qualified LGV / HGV driver looking to build your experience? Are you an experienced HGV Driver, or perhaps a newly qualified driver looking to join a team working looking towards a make a positive impact on our environment?
We have an opportunity for a Full Time Refuse Driver/Loader to join the team at Hitchcocks Business Park, Willand our established waste and recycling depot.
As an ambassador for Mid Devon District Council, you will drive and operate the vehicles used to collect household waste and recycling from our residents and customers. With a positive attitude you will also ensure that our health and safety regulations and working procedures are always followed, providing an excellent and efficient service for the people of Mid Devon.
Requirements
Essential
- LGV Class 2 license and Driver CPC card
- Demonstrate a passion for maintaining professional driving standards along with good communication skills and a willingness to be part of a successful hardworking team delivering a high level of service.
- You will be working as part of a team and therefore willing to help load.
Desirable
- Experience working in the waste industry.
- Working with Stillage Vehicles – Kerbside Loaders and RCV.
- Tacho Card.
- Immediate starts available (after successful DBS checks).

Responsibilities
- To drive LGV Category C and non-LGV vehicle when required.
- To undertake daily vehicle checks.
- To lead the crew to collect recycling and/or refuse from households, trade premises and other locations in Mid Devon within a round (ensuring no collections are missed).
- To maintain safe working practices.
