We are looking to expand our already successful Building Services team by recruiting a Building Maintenance Technician with a painting and decorating background, ideally having experience with interior and exterior painting, plaster repair and surface preparation and woodwork, doors and trim painting. The post holder will be working as part of our Building Services team delivering works to our housing stock, within our maintenance teams.

Typically our trade operatives opt to spread their hours between 7.30 and 4pm Monday to Thursday, allowing a 1pm finish on a Friday.

Tools are provided as well as a fully equipped van stock. We also have our own stores, and flexibility to buy materials from suppliers. Our operatives are provided with a company works vehicle, and there is currently an option to take this home with a fixed mileage rate deduction, within limits. Ongoing health and safety training is provided.

For this post you must be qualified to at least NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 and have at least 1 years’ experience in a relevant industry. We would also consider those without formal qualifications, but with significant relevant experience and references.

It is essential that the post holder is both confident and self-motivated at all times with excellent customer communication skills. Previous experience of working in social housing would be an advantage, and experience of mobile working solutions and hand held devices’ is desirable.

The housing team prides itself on being a great place to work, and as such, we are keen to ensure that we get the right person for the role, and also that we are right for you. Many of our team here are celebrating 10, 20, 30, even nearly 40 years with the Council Repairs service, which we hope is reflective of the supportive and friendly feel of the team. Flexible working also suits a great work-life balance. Please feel free to call before applying if you want to find out if this role is right for you.

The hours of work will be 37 per week with a good degree of flexibility.
